The Glitch

Cayla Turner // Spring 2019 // Prof. V. Vadaht // ARCH 206 Design and Visual Comm. Foundations II

Starting with simple forms that challenged the human living space, the project evolved into a study on the human environment in contrast with the context of the site; which in this case was the 3rd most dangerous part of Los Angeles, California. Disrupting the mass with the so-called “glitch”, the form now uses unconventional programming in the form of a gym to juxtapose the site and the function. The bright colors and sharp patterns make the form stand out and specifically the use of ‘millennial pink’ to further the idea of the future of architecture. This project helped my comprehension of the theory of architecture and how we can use design to impact and change the community.
